Our album has been reviewed by the folks at Something Else.
Songs are performed like algebra, setting up complex equations and solving for “x.”
. . . a record full of unexpected turns that never veers off course.

We received the first round of mastered tracks from Jen Munson yesterday and I have to say that they sound pretty damn good.
In fact, I’m so excited about them, I’ve put the whole album up here on the site for you to stream. Listen while you have the chance because I’m going to take most of it down at midnight. You have 12 hours to make your ears bleed so get to it!
Let me also add that 1.11.7 (part VI) was arranged by our engineer, Trevor Williams.
UPDATE: It’s midnight and time to take down the album. Don’t worry, we’ll leave 4 of the tracks so you can get your Abacus fix in the days ahead. We all hope you enjoyed the music.

Thanks to everyone who braved the elements on Saturday to see the Smoothe Moose Fractured Films evening and our Fuctaclause event at the Tea Lounge. Despite some slight technical difficulties (video being cropped and no audio output), I have to say that the evening was a roaring success based on my friend Paul’s statement to me after our performance.
“Alex,” Paul said, “you’ve officially ruined my Christmas. And I mean that in a good way.” Well, if that isn’t evidence enough of a royal FU to Santa, I don’t know what is.
I believe that the evening was well documented, both sonically and visually, so we’ll hopefully have something to show you some time soon. We’re also working on getting some online versions of the pieces performed so don’t touch that dial.
Our man in the booth, Trevor Williams, sent around some recent mixes the other day. We’ve put 4 of the 10 tracks up here on the homepage. Enjoy and thanks to Trevor for all his great work.
We’ve just recently finished tracking our first album. We’re hoping to release it in December on vinyl with an mp3 download. There are three sneak peaks right over there on the left side of the home page. Stay tuned suckas!
These photos were taken by Alex at our video shoot out in the Far Rockaways. That’s right, we’re going all MTV here with a music video for the *hit single* Ryhthmic Equation. Thanks to Ian Roberts for filming us. We’ll get that up here soon.
